Mullins Farms Donates to AIDS Walk Los Angeles

VALLEY SPRINGS, CA – August 2011 – Mullins Farms of Valley Springs, CA has contributed to the fight against AIDS with a donation to the 2011 AIDS Walk Los Angeles.

First developed in 1984 by Craig R. Miller, the world’s first AIDS Walk took place during the height of the epidemic, on July 28, 1985 in Los Angeles, California. Combining grassroots activism with fundraising and other campaign strategies to raise both awareness and money, a whopping 4,500 people assembled in front of Paramount Studios and raised $673,000; an incredible amount for the time.

Since its inception, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has become the largest AIDS fundraising event in California. Each year the event brings together 30,000 participants, raising millions of dollars for AIDS Project Los Angeles (APLA).

Beginning with the first walk in 1985, AIDS Walk Los Angeles has drawn over a half-million participants and has raised more than $66 million. With the money raised, the APLA is able to provide vital services to thousands of people in the Los Angeles area living with HIV and AIDS, running the country’s largest network of prevention programs.
