How Much Water Should You Drink Per Day?
Have you ever wondered how much water you should be drinking in a day? Me too!!
While I wasn’t able to find anything absolute and concrete, I did find some general recommendations one should follow. Here’s what I could find:
– The typical recommendation is eight to twelve 8 ounce glasses of water a day.
– You can survive only 3 days without drinking any water.
– According to Wikipedia, the percentage of body water weight is between 47% and 75% depending on a number of factors with an average of 57%.
– Water can help with weight loss – It helps you stay full, rids your body of toxins and helps with digestion.
– The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3 liters of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters of total beverages a day.
– Soups, sports drinks, soda’s, milk, juice and food with high moisture content, like fruits and vegetables, all count toward that total. Just be aware of all the extra calories you will be consuming.
– Drink the total amount recommended into evenly dispersed doses, unless you have a special circumstance – like you’re working outdoors and in the heat; in which case your water intake should be increased.
If you have any medical problems, especially kidney or adrenal issues, always consult a doctor. In fact consult one anyway because I’m certainly not qualified as one.
